My Pet Dragon is a Brooklyn, NY based act creating a buzz because of their unique sound and live show. The sound of My Pet Dragon comes from singer/guitarist Todd Michaelsen, whose songwriting style blends epic rock sounds with various other influences including pop, eastern, and electronica. My Pet Dragon's intense live show consists of Michaelsen's music combined with the mesmerizing classical Indian dancing of his wife, Reena Shah. They have officially release one record called 'First Born' in 2006 which highlights both organic and electronic production, and multi-layered instrumentation.

My Pet Dragon released "First Born" in 2006 and received glowing reviews. Ethnotecho.com gave the album 5 out of 5 stars and stated the album was "expansive and cinematic" and "forged new territory in blending disparate sounds and influences together into a novel experience." In the two years since the band's conception, the duo has played a variety of shows around the country including the 2007 Burning Man Festival, the 2007 DUMBO Arts Festival, and the 2006 ArtWallah Festival in L.A. My Pet Dragon is currently recording their next record. Michaelsen has also worked with producer Karsh Kale and sitarist Anoushka Shankar on their newly acclaimed record "Breathing Under Water" (EMI).
